King Abdullah Academy students took part in the first ever International Douglas-Young Tournament for IB students which was founded by three IB Diploma Program students from Ikast-Brande in Denmark. KAA students entered into their chosen subject areas and studied academic content and prepared for the DYT tournament beginning in the Fall. KAA's IB DP faculty provided extra study sessions after school and encouraged the students with moral support. Students who entered into the DYT competition completed in the first round of the DYT with IB styled subject examinations where they were proctored after school on campus. The DYT tests were sent out to Ikaste, Denmark where they were graded externally. To qualify for the DYT presentation round in Denmark students from IB schools worldwide had to have high scores in the designated IB subject area. KAA had 5 students chosen for the presentation round.
DYT Ambassador for KAA senior Yusuf Amir also applied to the DYT and was selected as the DYT Ambassador. He arranged KAA's DYT club activities, promotion of the tournament, communications, and logistics and traveled with the 5 KAA students (listed above) who flew internationally to Denmark with their DYT Club Advisor Ms. Jalaika Hasan. For round two of the International Douglas Young Tournament KAA's students competed in the in-person round where they demonstrated subject expertise, excellent oral presentations, poise, and determination throughout the tournament. Way to go Falcons!
